To lead the press, we must first lead the sports field.

The sports arena today is a very large one, and everyone who walks into it must be very careful. Many media professionals have not succeeded in the Lebanese sports media world because sports and sports currents are their specialty, and they were not the masters and kings of these sports. Today, it is the Lebanese journalist who must be the leader in the process of sports journalism so that he can move it towards professionalism and development. For when he leads the sports fields, then he can lead the sports media field.

Towards professional sports journalism

Professionalism in media today requires striving, effort, and work in multiple fields. I cannot just do one thing in media work. A media professional must be multi-talented, like the media professionals on Bein Sports, who we see in multiple roles such as reporters, presenters, and sometimes even producers. Yes, professionalism requires great effort, and for Lebanese media to develop, it must meet the requirements of professionalism.

Lebanese sports journalism today faces a significant gap that threatens to push Lebanon out of the limelight of the media and keep it from achieving professionalism. While we have talked extensively about sports journalism, there is still a lack of understanding of its true meaning and purpose. As a result, professionalism in Lebanon and some parts of the Arab world remains rare.

In a book titled "Guide to Sports Journalism" that was gifted to me, I found a collection of opinions from journalists about this field, including that of Mr. Muhammad Amur, Director of News Management at beIN Sports channels. He stated, "Sports journalism is a specialization that transforms sports into an independent economy in its own right." He further explained that during its work and coverage of sporting events, sports journalism must take into account both the audience and advertisers to generate high revenue.

Indeed, journalism has been and continues to be the voice of the public. If a journalist wants to professionalize their work, it's not just about leaving their country and working abroad. They can also professionalize their career within the country, but first, they need to build a large audience base. Therefore, the journalist must first learn how to effectively communicate with the audience.
Vanity

Ambition in the world of sports journalism is essential, but before entering the field of sports journalism and before forming an image of himself as a sports presenter on any platform, the individual must answer the following questions, or rather, ask himself first: Who am I? Why? What makes me different from others? What experiences do I have? However, all of this should be done with a little humility and without arrogance. Arrogance today is what distances journalists and journalism from professionalism, as sports journalist Hussein Yassin said, "Anyone who wants to enter the field of sports media must look for ways to get closer to the audience, not to seek fame." In the same context, Mr. Hassan Sharara spoke about the subject when someone comes out of nowhere and starts giving titles to himself and others.

Advice...

In conclusion, the future generation of sports journalism is large, but there are many concerns about this field. In fact, many journalists advise against continuing on the path of Lebanese sports journalism due to the crisis. Therefore, it was necessary to gather advice from the journalists who were the focus of this topic that I am talking about, and thus their advice was.
